Any photos of SPORTING BEARS DREAM RIDES events please
Discussion
Has anyone got digital photos of any of the Sporting Bears Dream Rides events from over the years
The first Sporting Bears Dream Rides event took place with fifteen cars at the NEC Classic & Sportscar Show in May 1994
We seem to have been too busy taking passengers photos and raising money for children's charities to have taken many for our own use
If you have photos and you want to share them thro' PH and/or the Bears web site or set up a link to your web site please contact me
(autofocus has already been kind enough to share his photos of Kimbolton 2006, thank you)
Thank you, Nigel
Past SPORTING BEARS DREAM RIDES events:

Also, chap I know selling Ford 5 ltr Cobra has changed his mind, he may come on one of the Northants PH runs but I bet it's in his Boxster
Edited: PS Do you know of the Dave Whitehurst Racing Cobras, Derbys ?

seeing those pics bring back memories!
was going to go for a spin in Simons 348, but the starter motor was on the fritz! so i went in Nigels rather lovely 328. the first Ferrari i've ever been in, did not disapoint at all!
went out in the black Noble and the grey Chim that year too!

Wasn't the starter motor in the end - turned out to be a fault with the immobilser.
Thank you for photos Zippie could I please use them on our web site?
Last photo shows our Charity Secretaries Mike and Caroline with Mike leaning on his S1 Elise which was T-boned by a young lady whose trying to deny fault, Ian's 993 and a genuine RHD racing AC Cobra
It almost also shows how blistering hot it was too

Not a problem from my point of view - Simon no longer owns the 348 so I know he won't mind his old car being displayed.
Tony thanks
Have a look at my reply to you on Enjoy Ferrari thread please

OK for 328 as well ?
From my point of view it should be fine - I took the photo which was in a public area. Do you also require owners permission?
I can remember shooting a video for you guys years ago, at the NEC, featuring some on board stuff in Dave Whitehurst's Cobra, a Lambo Countache, couple of Ferarri's and some other wild rides. I can remember one shot when Dave's car launches, & the pasenger's wig blows off- hillarious!.
Gave a copy to Mick Bryant a long time ago.....I'll have a look around the office to see if there's an old one knocking around somewhere.....maybe you can get your techie chap to host it on YouTube or similar...

Trackside, thanks for photos
If it hadn't been so hot I'd have paid for a ride in the RHD racing AC Cobra, I don't think people realised exactly what it was as there were a couple of spaces unbooked
I can't take the heat they call me a vampire because when the sun come out I go in
The Cobra shot is nice and unlike most of the photos of Kimbolton you can see a few people do actually attend the show, last year it was so hot most people kept to the shade plus an event in Bedford took some of our visitors but they'll be back this year as we were told the Bedford show was no match for Kimbolton (plus Bedford show is every two years)
We never really get to see the show but I know it's absolutly excellent value

Please search high and low for it
What a coincidence, I knew nothing of your video but we have the promo video we use on the stand from 1998 I think (could it be from same recording?)
I wanted to put our video on PH TV (I've already asked if this is ok) but Mick hasn't sent me this tape because he's worried about copyright for the music (on the internet ?!)
I remember watching Dave's Cobra go down the 'drag strip' we had one year with a Japanese chap videoing all he could have got was sky and the footwell as Dave hit the loud pedal and lifted off at the end of the strip
We miss Dave and his Cobras the sound of them on the approach road to the garage hall was enough to draw a crowd (loud pedal very apt)
I never did get a ride with Dave, Central done an interview and the passenger was asked " What went thro' your mind at the end of your ride" the young passenger's reply "Would he swap the car for my girlfriend"
Dave built and sold a four seater Cobra, we hoped we would see it on the rides imagine sitting in the raised rear seats !
Sorry, went off on one there, please find your video and if you know Mick persuade him we don't need copyright as we're not selling anything just sharing

For the absolute answer on copyright licences, costs & guidelines, one simple call/email to the PRS & MCPS Partnership will answer all your questions: www.mcps-prs-alliance.co.uk/redirect.asp?targetitem=670&subjectId=114
Just explain to them that you want to play it at an exhibition, give them the dates & venue.....they'll do the rest & give you a price for the period that you want to play it. Repeat this process for every exhibition you want to play the video at.
Then if you want to host it on-line on your website, ask them a seperate question, and get a seperate set of figures from them.
Then make your infomed choie, pay them the money, your licence arrives in the post, and away you go.
No need to be afraid, you'll be surprised how cheap the legal route actually is.
Oh, and my repeat fees....... a ride in a Veyron will do, cheers.
I had a good look around tonight, and I suspect that Mick has the only copy now....... it was 10 years ago IIRC !
