Hotel recommendations near Grenoble?

I'm taking the Spider on a jaunt down to the Cote d'Azur next week and want to get there via the Route Napoleon which I have driven many times.

Last time I stayed in a really horrible hotel in Grenoble which itself is a really horrible town.

Has anyone got any recommendations for a reasonable hotel in that area, preferably with decent parking for the F430?

Ditch Grenoble (its a non-tourist friendly industrial town, as you've discovered!) add a few mins onto your journey and stay at Chambery as its easily doable in a day from Calais and leaves a great drive down to the Cote d'Azur - we always stay at this hotel:

Its got a good sized gravel car park overlooked by the rooms and offers lovely views across the valley. Food & wine excellent (of course), all in all a lovely place.

Enjoy your drive: May I recommend (nay, insist) that you take in the D2 Col 'd Vence - take a left off of the N85 onto the D2211 (just a few km's after Castellane), which meets the D2 a couple of kilometre's further on. Then just follow the D2 all the way to Vence. The road is simply epic, a scene of many EVO tests are new car launches - I drove it every day when we there last year in the Z4Coupe, it would be off the scale on a 430....
