I have just managed to ring the Carrington Arms. The cricket pitch is closed as I suspected it would be.

Yes but it is bordered by a stream. I would guess the ground water level is still very high and the ground hasnt had long enough to dry out.

I must have been standing near you when that man arrived home. I remember him muttering about the country going to the dogs! Poor chap-not what you expect when you come home from work.
