Hoping for some help!
Am going to Perpignan next summer with the in-laws, and struggling to get there!
My clan (wife + 1 to come) are from Epsom, Surrey, in-laws will be in Norfolk. The only way I can see is flying from Stanstead, but then I thought, how about flying to Toulouse or Girona and driving up?
Anyone got experience of doing this? Girona is apparently only 56 miles away, but, and a big but, it is across the mountains.
Thoughts?

Flown to Girona from Bournemouth before. Girona is a huge airport. Very easy to get to Perpignan from that airport. Perpignan also has a small airport that you can get to from Southampton.
I drove down in my old MX5 this year. 1K miles each way! Good fun though.
They have a motorway over these mountains, so it isn't like you are going on a survival mission!

I would love to drive there, having done Dordogne twice now, but with a young baby (5 months) on board, and we will need two cars which negates any cost saving ...
You drive on your own, the rest fly, hire second car at airport. No hassles with car seats, because you take yours, still save on cost of hire of second car.
Or you go as a family by car and let the in laws fly and hire their own car at the airport.
I don't see that driving with a young one is that much more hassle than flying - we used to drive down to Moriara (nr Benidorm) every year when my kids were similar ages with very few problems. Just make the journey part of the holiday rather than a balls out race to get there.
Another advantage of driving is that you can take all the clobber that young babies need rather than being restricted by airline luggage limits.

Airport in Perpignan? Yes, but you can only get a flight out of Standstead, not "proper" airports near me like LGW and LHR!
I remember that driving to the Dordogne was quite relaxing, so I might suggest it as an option.
Good point regarding baby stuff though, thank goodness I have an estate ...
