Hi, im a noob and have settled on this forum after looking for one where ppl seem to actually know what they are talking about, you seem to fit the profile and here i am.HI smile

After a few years of going to Britcar 24hr at Silverstone i have fallen more and more in love with endurance racing and want to go to the ring 24hr next year for the 1st time.

I am a complete novice at travelling to races outside the UK so i need to know everything from camping, travel tips and best places to watch from.

If any of you could possibly help in any way i would very much appreciate it.

We're going next year. Just booking now. We've been to Le Mans the last 6 years running but got bored and fancied a change. Will be our first N24... smile

Anyone else booked up? The race tickets are on sale now at www.24h-rennen.de. Hoping to see a few pistonheaders over there.

Sixspeed, do you know what ferry you are on? We are heading over Wednesday on Norfolkline.

James, best to get a hotel in Adenau or Nurburg. When I was looking I tried Blau Ecke, Forsthaus (Hubertus and Burgstube) and Tiergarten (home of the Pistenklause). Went with Burgstube in the end as it was a bit cheaper and still really close to the action. The Tiergarten has soom roms available booking direct but it was expensive and I was sorting it out way back in October so the rooms might be taken by now.

CB911, not booked our crossing yet - looking for the best deal (but need to book soon I think, as they're not getting any cheaper!)

Might take a look at Norfolkline...

We are booked for the N24 for the 1st time. Taking the soft option (!) of Flying to Cologne on Friday and then using some hired wheels.

I would welcome any hints and tips regarding the camping situation (Hotel rooms appear to have been at a premium since late November). We are intending to arrive early on the Saturday morning. Should I anticipate any congestion problems?

In addition I see that the offical 24hr site offers tickets for sale. Are there any advantages of purchasing tickets in advance? or is this essential?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

I've been once before so no expert. We camped then and it was good fun. The campsites were a bit crowded and you can't reserve them but we still managed to get a pitch arriving on the Friday. We bought our entrance tickets in advance just for piece of mind. This year we have booked a hotel because we wanted to do it in style!

Just checked and it looks like the chap who we bought the package from still has rooms available at Burgstube hotel, www.racetours.co.uk.

There was a bit of traffic around the circuit on Saturday morning, mostly around the GP circuit area. You would prob be ok but to be honest I would try and get there earlier as there is so much going on. Apparently there is a huge track invasion on Thursday night and the historic support race is incredible, that is on Friday afternoon.

CB911, Thanks for your insight, and the link. We have a prior engagement in Cologne on Friday which is unfortunately preventing an earlier arrival, which is a shame by the sound of it.

I can't say I blame you for wanting to do it in style. Camping isn't my forte, but with sufficient alcohol I'm sure it can be managed for one night!

Can't help any further as we bought our tickets from an agent this year. Last year we just bought them on the gate on the Friday I think.
