Following on from the discussions of how popular PH meets have become I thought it may be best to create a seperate topic concerning the possible locations of such meets. So...
Syon Park
Thorpe Park
Drayton Manor (W Midlands)
O2 Dome
vllage of Bolney
Brands Hatch?
Donington Park?
Blackbushe Airport?
Heritage Motor Centre Gaydon
How about also Brooklands - I know there's a lot of land in and around the main facility which could be looked into.

If airports are an option how about Biggin Hill?
The way I see it, there are some basic requirements:
- loads and loads and loads of parking!
- toilets, tea, and bacon butties
- near to some nice driving roads.
Not sure the O2 dome fills the last requirement
Further out of London the better IMHO!
I think pub/station car parks are going to be too small if we are talking 5-600 cars.

A decent run there is part of the fun.WRT Brands Hatch - why not choose a suitable event on the racing calendar, where entry isn't too expensive (perhaps do a deal with MSV for reduced entry) and the crowds aren't too big but the cars racing are of interest to Pistonheads regulars (eg: Britcar). Combine it with a Pistonheads meet on Colin Chapman way or the Southbank and you'd have the cars to look at, owners to chat to, plenty of places selling food and some races to watch. If you're not fussed about the next race on track, go and look at some of the cars.

The key question for consideration has to be if people would be willing to pay to attend/park at such a event.
And if so, how much, as this would help determine suitable venues.
And if not, then options are limited again.
I was at theSouthern Midlands meet last year - plenty of room - but no-one turned up, except most from the south!
Perhaps consider that again? The reason being that instead of just lusting around in a car park - there are other activities to do too - particularly family-orientated

Looking at Brooklands from above there seems to be an old disused runway to the left hand side to the main facilty. Would seem to be an option if its owned by thr Brooklands estate, certainly looks more than big enough ?

It lists all the airfields, both used and unused, in the UK and their current status. There's a disclaimer on the site which states:
"Airfield data does not contain information on current airfield owners and I regret that I cannot help users with enquiries about the use of airfields for charity events, motor sport activities or other purposes."
Having said that, if you find a suitable one, I doubt it'd take too much to track down ownership/details on the site.

I have no idea whether it's available for such things, but how about Castle Combe Circuit?

Not quite true. There were at least 7 people from the Midlands there. Anyway due to certain antics in the car park I doubt PH would be welcom back at Gaydon. I think weather was a large factor in the low turn out.And if so, how much, as this would help determine suitable venues.

Although in fairness - the weather was pretty pants that day - hence the low turnout. I suspect the Sunday Service would not have had half the attendees it did if the weather was the same.

Is there a simple answer to that question? For me it would depend on how much, where and what facilities were available. In principle, yes, I would be willing to pay.And if so, how much, as this would help determine suitable venues.

e.g. I would prefer it if Goodwood would charge for the breakfast club meetings. As free events they are simply far too busy and have gone from being a gathering of like minded car enthusiasts to a day out for the family. If paying for it would help get things back to what they were originally then I'm all for it. Would it work? I don't know... but I think it's worth trying.
