Renting a Mustang in the US ?? Help Please..
Discussion
Hi all..
we've just booked our flights to SanFrancisco for 2 weeks driving around california+ (vegas, grand canyon, yosemite, highway1 etc etc)..
We'd like to hire something a little more interesting than "Chevrolet Aveo or similar", and thought a mustang would fit the bill nicely!
Now it seems you can't rent a proper mustang anyway, so a V6 will have to do, but where from??
Does anyobdy have any good tips (specifically which company to hire from) for renting a Mustang from SanFran??
all help greatly appreciated!
thanks all..
Piers.

I had a Mustang 2 weeks ago in San Fran (free upgrade to usual economy company crap). It was rather rubbish, plastic interior, hated corners. Only thing it did was sound pretty good. This wasn't translated into forward motion though.
Only go for a Mustang if you can get the high power V8 special through Hertz, not the normal V6 rental spec one.
I'm hoping to get a free upgrade to a Prius one day (Avis have loads at SFO). Only because I plan to see how low I can get the MPG

To be honest a lot of Yank cars are pretty crap (check my profile) so they're all much of muchness really. Underpowered, don't handle particularly well and built out of sweet wrappers.
Having said that, it doesn't really matter as long as you get a convertible. Roof down, sun shining, what more could you want.
Oh, and take plenty of CD's with you. American radio is awful.

so what else would you suggest going for for the same money (£280 for 2 weeks) ??Roo. - thanks for the link!

Avis have hundreds of Mustangs, I usualy get one when in San Fran (in fact I had one last week). The V6 is not great and the boot is pretty small, 350Z could be a good option. I also had a Chevy Suburban for 2 weeks when the missus came over, it swallowed golf bags like the Grand Canyon and was good fun driving through Death Valley etc.
