I have some fantastic news - Warner Brothers head office in USA have agreed to supply us with a print of the film a whole week before its UK national release (Thursday 8th May) to allow car owners a first-in-the-uk, totally free screening of the film!

Were at it again- something for nothing!!

A free film night at Leeds Vue cinema - Kirkstall Rd for those of you lucky enough to own a SPORTS CAR!

Speed Racer. http://speedracerthemovie.warnerbros.com/

As with previous years, it is the intention to start the film between 7.30pm-7.45pm to allow people time to arrive on site and to take their seats. The Vue cinema has allocated screen 1, which has a seating capacity of 343 seats.

In order to plan and control numbers the cinema will have to collate car owner details and print some official invitations which will be distributed a week before the screening. These will be posted to home/contact addresses and will have a parking plan attached.

This means a cut off date of Thursday 1st May 2008 for applications/confirmations. Therefore "sports car" owners, wishing to attend must email
leeds@vuemail.com
with details of full name(s) of attendee(s); postal mailing address; type and model of car and, finally, the number of requested tickets (1 or 2).

We aim for 160 cars attending.

As with previous years, the cinema will arrange for additional security for the car park between 7pm and 11pm. It must be stressed that Vue Entertainment Ltd cannot accept liability for cars or their contents. Please also be aware that due to the exclusive nature of the screening, Warner Brothers are likely to send their own security personnel to police the screen(s) in use and to conduct a bag search upon entry to prevent possible piracy or breaches of the copyright act.

I'm sure that this is going to be a fantastic event and one which should hit the headlines nationally and I am thrilled to once again work with you to ensure it goes smoothly and successfully.

SPORTS CARS ONLY!

DATE CHANGED by cinema TO 8th May
Those who have already contacted the cinema for tickets need not do so again.

Bringing you local events wink

Nice one Gemini! Well done for sorting this yet again.

Just to confirm - we email Vue direct? Do you want us to post in here as well?

Cheers,

ETA - just had reply from Cinema - our viewing date is indeed Thursday 15th Maysmile

Rich - can you clarify the date of the viewing please ... you have 18th May in the title which is a Sunday and then say it is the night BEFORE the release, Thursday 15th. Is the 15th the day of the release or is the release 16th? ... and what's on the 18th? confused

Annnnnd - this might be a bit over cautious, but if we give them our full postal address, that's going be one hell of a list of the whereabouts of a lot of expensive cars to fall into the wrong hands. I think I'll give them the work address.

After watching the trailers my prognosis is ... something like a cross between Rollerball (the original), Deathrace 2000 (when the year 2000 seemed so far away!) and Spy Kids biggrin
