Fellow PHers,

Off to Nurburgring with some mates on the first weekend in May. However, we will have some time to kill on the first 'travel' day on the way there.

Any suggestions/experience on places to stop on the way, or nice roads/area to visit on the first day....even places to be the night before (we'll be staying in the Nurburg area)...

...of course, day 2 will be 'high octane in the green hell'....

Thanks

Neek

You could go and visit Spa...

Or you could just arrive at the 'ring and just blast around the local roads!

Unfotunately they are doing a lot of work by the F1 part of the circuit so the museum and go-karts are not there at the moment. However, just down the road from the track is a great off roading place. There is also Nurburg castle to have a look at (but beware a lot of these places seem to close on a Monday)

Bruges is a nice place to stop at on the trip down.

Justa quick word of warning we travelled from hull to roterdam and every driver was breathalised at the exit from the ferry port.

That said an Awesome trip, a must do for every petrol head

another vote for pinoccio s restaurant giant pizza and a beer for 11 euros cant beat it

foot down until you are there and then go to the Restaurant Pistenklause (2 mins from the ring car park) for one of their argentinian fillets cooked on a stone - nothing on the planet to touch it (beef wise!!). Might get to see Sabine - her family own the Hotel that the restaurant is attached to. Alternatively, do as previously advised, get down to Spa for alook round and then have a good blat down to the ring - brilliant roads all the way through to the ring. Enjoy the trip, stay safe and on the right hand side going round!!

How far is spa from the ring? we were looking at going to the nurburgring next summer and whilst we're there it seams silly not to try and include a track day at spa.

Zakspeed (top of Nurburg town near the entrance to the F1 track) have a fleet of Quad bikes and do guided tours around the local forests which is great fun. We went with them at Easter and were out in the freezing cold for about 4 hours but did some proper good mud plugging. They provided 2 guides, sandwiches and soft drinks and the quad plus all the equipment you need for 130€ which was pretty good we felt. Good laugh
