Would love to get a european trip in this year, but I don't know where to start! Anyone know any ready made itineraries that I can have a look at online? Are there any tomtom routes out there? Thx.

Thanks Harsh, though I was hoping to organise something myself. I know there are plenty of companies doing it, but I like the idea of not being in a group. Half the fun is in planning my own itinerary and investigating what hotels to stay in. It's just feeling a bit daunting at the moment. I don't know which are the good roads, hence wanted to look at some existing routes to get a feel for what the things are that can't be missed.

Try doing a search on 'Route Napoleon' or 'Stelvio Pass' and have a look at the threads that get thrown up. There's been a few recently where people have asked the same thing and got some pretty detailed responses.

If you have a TomTom sat-nav and the TomTom Home application you can download ready made routes (Stelvio, Eifel region around Nurburgring, Welsh lakes, etc.) to put in your TomTom.

I certainly do! Where can I get these itinerary files?

Thanks too for the other responses, I've now found the "roads" section of this forum which seems to have a lot of info. smile

1) Open the TomTom Home application
2) Choose the 'Add Maps, Traffic, Voices, etc.' option
3) On the next page click the 'Next' arrow
4) Select 'Routes'

If you've got your TomTom connected it should go away and download a huge list of pre-prepared routes submitted by other users.

It can take a while to download the contents and then go through them one by one, but just click on the one(s) you want and click install/download.

i guessed from your post you were hoping to organise something yourself.
i was simply planning to give you a list of the best roads in the area you were planning to go to.

this site is worth looking at
http://www.alpineroads.com/index.php

even though it's not very user friendly.
one important point, when you are booking hotels, make sure they have decent parking facilities.
