2008 Fighting Torque - Taking Entries NOW!!!
Discussion
Hello VMaxers,
Just a little alternative to the fantastic Vmax events. Fighting Torque 2007 saw a 3/4 mile standing start two lane sprint, with a crop of TVRs taking on allcomers. This year moves to Woodbridge and the track increases to 1mile.
It's on Aug 10th. Hope some of you can make it:

Interested to know what the VMax posse think would be a good 1mile standing start time/speed.
Last year I did the 3/4 mile in 23.80 sec at ET of 161.50mph
So the last 1/4 should take about 6 secs??? What speed could I get to from 161 in that time? 170, 175? I'm hoping it wouldn't be more cos I'll be outta revs at that speed and the big powered Pork and the Lambos will be reelin' me in!!
Anyone done a timed, standing 1mile? Whad da you did?

This years event is slightly different in that it isn't TVR's taking on all comers, but will be a collection of all the different types of Super/Sports cars battling it out against each other. This years event will restrict the amount of each marque / models competing, whereas last year a fair proportion were TVR's.
Looking forward to it (as well as the next Vmax....)
Jules.

With very fast cars (ie vmax in 1.6 mile 190mph+ category)the acceleration over about 160mph is majorly hampered by the CdA of said vehicle.Last year I did the 3/4 mile in 23.80 sec at ET of 161.50mph

So going from 3/4 mile to 1 mile is as much about your CdA as how much power you have.
My 993tt has around 580PS but a CdA of 0.72 (stock is 0.66) In 3/4 mile it will reach ~170mph and in a mile only 15mph more @ 185mph in around 6.5s. For the vmax runs it only puts on another ~9mph in the last 0.6 mile to the vmax line....
Another good example of the drag is that Green Techart GT Street which managed 194mph at Bruntingthorpe's 1.6mile acceleration area whereas that actual car has run to ~220mph given a long enough straight - Sport Auto stuck it in the Mercedes wind tunnel and found out they had "altered" the stock 997tt's CdA from a low 0.59 to a not so low 0.68
