The Frosts National Speed Trials in Brighton is to be held on Saturday 13th September. This is the world's oldest (still running) motor race and is a 1/4 mile sprint event.

More info is available on our club website: http://www.brightonandhovemotorclub.co.uk

It's free to watch from the top road, or for £10 you can wander the pits and get very close to the cars as they perform 'tyre warming' in the staging area.

I will be competing in a blue Ferrari 308 GT4. I think there are quite a few other PHers competing this year also?

How so? Seeing as I live next door in Worthing I'd love to pop down & have my rather innocent but well educated (on all things petrol related) brother have a stroll round the pit area.

Any ideas on what sort of figures we're looking at for that kind of privilige?

I'm thinking of taking a train trip down there ( approx 2.5 hours )is it close to the station or will I need to get a taxi?
Is there a timetable of events? Or just a likely start/finish time so I can plan my journey.
Thanks smile

It's about a 20 minute walk from the station, or 15 minutes in a taxi. Head down from the station to the seafront and turn left. It's on the seafront just past the pier as you're heading east.

Practice starts at 10am for all cars, then the cars run in class order twice. Then the top 6 cars and bikes have a final run-off just after 5pm. We aim for it all to be over by 6pm.

It was a tenner the last time I went a couple of years ago. I live in Chichester and just hop on the train.

the front wing has had a rattle can respray yes! eekhehe

The other wing looks worse now, so the scruffy old Tivver battles on with full heavy use in motorsport style bodywork...

Actually, this will be its last Speed Trial before a complete body off rebuild (and numerous upgrades!) We'd like to beat our personal best, but we've done nothing to the car since last time except wear the tyres down/ fill it with petrol. smile Its still used as a daily driver as well as a competition car and we're very proud of that fact. Next year it may start to get a little bit quicker though... wink

Not sure when a proper respray is in order? Its no where near retirement from competition yet. thumbup

Your car flys in the face of comments about TVR's being unreliable! Maybe the harder you use them.....?;)

Ah, you caught me out, sorry - I skim read the first few posts. See you there Dan, we're hoping to be there every year its run now to be honest, slowly working towards the top ten run off maybe? hehe

Honkongfooi - the car is a credit to the way in which its been looked after and prepared by both my father and TrackCar. The only thing that has let it down is the chassis rust protection, though I am sorting this in November. The drivetrain, in particular the engine, is IMHO as strong as anything that rolls out of stuttgart and we've tried to prove this in competition. We know it has another 40bhp in it with a change of exhaust/decat and a few minor tweaks. evil
