My brother is organising a trip to Le Mans this year and I'm up for going but not really sure what its all about.

So other than the obvious, that it is a long race, what is the score? I'm not sure I can just sit and watch a race for a few days.

What is the social side?

Basically you drive there as fast as you can, behave like a complete bell-end for three days, and then spend the next few months on PH moaning about other people's behaviour, and about how unfair French speeding fines are.

Enjoy...

Not quite as civilised as Glasto, and the music is much worse.

As far as I remember it's a massive bender.

There are some cars involved, that go around a track at some point in the afternoon.

Then some more booze.

Bit of food.

Bit more booze.

Then it gets dark.

And from then on commences one of the greatest spectacles on earth.

Then a you have a night cap.

Cheers for the offer, but my Bro is organising an "event" trip with a load of his mates so was going to tag onto that. But might meet for a beer if we're there. You taking the 360? I'm beginning to think that its a bad idea to take a nice car.

Thats cool Ewan , meeting for a beer or two there sounds like a plan.

i've not decided what to take yet...
probably not the 360 though as there's a fair bit i want to take with me, so either the F150 or the M3.

i want to save the 360 for the european tours!

Why not? Why would you want to go to the greatest motor race on earth, with thousands of people taking an array of cars that will make your jaw drop, and not take a nice car if you have one?

If you're worried, simply avoid driving around Houx on Friday afternoon.

Attending this type of event is exactly the sort of thing that a lot of people have these cars for yes

I was just reading about the guys with piss-loaded supersoakers etc. I remember what Glasto camping was like, and I dont think I'd like to try to drive a 430 onto a field. I had to park it in a cornfield when I was at Hockenheim this year and it wasnt pretty. They hadnt even got rid of all the straw stems.

I'm also a bit concerned about vandalism/theft due to the proximity of many drunkards.

Just a few concerns as I dont know what to expect.

If you are camping inside the circut, and you have a nice motor, be prepared for one of two things, possibly both... dust, and mud.I saw new Ferrari's and Astons caked in both. The music will be V loud (and usually quite cheesy/crap) and go on all night every night. But after a couple of days I find I can sleep through anything. Be prepared also for fireworks, waterfights and general dicking around. But hey, Brits abroad n all that.
coolhurldrinkjester

Apparently it is possible to stay/camp away from the circuit but Ive never tried it. Despite all the madness it is still petrolhead heaven.......and to cap it all, aparently some cars race for 24hrs?
