Over the last few years I've been to the MPH and PH shows, but fancy something a bit different this year. I've seen pics from the Essen show for years now in Performance VW magazine and this year I fancy going.
Has anyone else been before? Found a round trip flight for £130, what sort of prices are the hotels?

Cheers

Rob, a few people go to the Geneva show as you can simply walk out of the airport into the halls.

i guess though from a specific VW perpective Essen makes more sense for you.
Good to see you yesterday mate

Are you looking at Techno Classica or The Essen Motor Show?

Both very good - Techno Classica in April a huge event (prob biggest indoor classic show in the world). Plenty of VW and other German machinery on display. Quality of cars truly breathtaking. Need 2 days really.

Essen Motor Show in the Autumn is a bit more of a mish mash between a standard motor show, a high end tuning show, a modified car show with a classic element. Still good but not one thing defines it.

Depends what your bag is really. If it's classics then 100% go to Techno Classica. VW had a really impressive stand last time.

Cheers,

I've been to Essen every year from about 2000 to 2006 (didn't live far from the German border) and we've enjoyed it every time.

It has all the nice sportscars, it has all the newest models of the normal cars, it has a race section, some tuning, lots of stands to buy stuff from, lots of nice halfnaked girls sitting on cars a section with odd/futuristic cars.

Been to the London motorshow a couple months ago and did think Essen was much better.
