I'm planning a roadtrip for me and some mates later in the year, one of our destinations being Monaco, but we're doing it on a shoestring.

We've basically ruled out staying in Monaco itself, but does anyone know of anywhere near Monaco that has cabbins, chalets, camp sites etc? have been searching on the net, and there must be something but i haven't found it yet.

any help appreciated, cheers.

We did a similar thing in the summer, but we stayed in a Campsite near the beach at Antibes. If you want any roadtrip tips on travelling to Monte Carlo on a shoestring, 9 of us did it for £1,000 each including fuel, accomodation and spending money! There is a 6 page write up on it in November's Totalkitcar magazine, including notes on good Alpine passes and MonteCarlo rally stages to take in, including the Stelvio Pass and Col du Turini.

I`ve stayed here a couple of times in the past http://www.campdupylone.com/
Biot, between Antibes and Nice. Excellent facilities and not expensive either.

cheers guys for all the advice, will have to find that article, definately doing it on a shoestring, there's no other way to travel, who needs 5* hotels when there's a perfectly good tent in the boot.

Me and a mate stayed in an apartement in the centre around early July. Managed to get it 130ish a night IIRC. Ill see if I can dig out the name. It would sleep 3.

Thats v cheap for Monaco.

Been a few times, last year we stayed in Nice at the aparthotel Citadines. It is a self catering place, right in the middle of Nice with a secure underground car park. Cheap for Nice, maybe 100 euros a night for the room. Google and you'll find it easily...
