Mille mIglia

Having watched James martin's abortive efforts to do the Mille Miglia I thought it would be an experience to do a road trip along the same famous route. Not being in the position to afford an £800000 Alfa I figured I'd better do it in my road car and save the entry fee (its not a race but a RUN after all) to spend on accomodation and fuel.

Driving to Brescia from UK and back would be half the fun taking in Stelvio for example.

Any of the Eurohoon organisers done this or likely to do this in 2009??

They did it last year I'm afraid, or several sections of the route any way.

i'd love to join in, maybe connect half way down for me though as I'm already near (ish) your destination.

ps - loved the James program & promised myself something similar one day.

I drove the full route in September - something I'd wanted to do for a few years to get a better appreciation of what Moss & Jenks accomplished in '55. There's far better driving to be had elsewhere in Italy and Europe (the route is quite different when the roads aren't semi-closed) but it's an experience I'm very glad I've had.
