Mille Miglia presentation
Discussion
Photos or a presentation to your club in return for for a charity donation.
A fund raising drive to Italy. Total of 3300 miles in 46 hours driving. Crossing 8 countries, over 100 hairpin bends in the mountains, rising to 9045 feet above sea level. A real challenge for a pair of pensioners in an old car.
Bob and June Debell, from Collingham, West Yorkshire are planning a trip to raise money for Vila Maninga in Mozambique. The Vila provides Foster homes for orphans; a Primary School; Vocational Training work; a Christian Training college; Homes for the elderly and a day Clinic. All of these are at one location in Mozambique, a poor country recovering from civil war. The Vila has suffered both flood and fire over the last few years. Donations can be made at http://www.justgiving.com/robertdebell
The culmination of the trip is to take photographs of over 300 cars racing in the Mille Miglia Regulation Rally. All these cars are at least 50 years old, and they have to cover 1000 miles in 3 days. Then we will post photographs of the rally and a diary on the internet. Anybody who likes the pictures can make a donation, or ask us to make a presentation to a group such as a club or forum in return for a donation.

This may be a worthy cause, but I don't understand this.
You've just described the (great) driving holiday I had last year, but are asking for charity money to do the same??
If you were pushing the car or driving in reverse with one hand in a bucket of jam I'd understand, but it just seems to be an great holiday.

True. Some people do the bizarre thing, such as drive with a hand in a pot of jam or sit in a bathtub full of baked beans. Some people do things they have always wanted to do, such as climb a mountain or ride a bike across Cuba [all costs paid, incidentally, by their sponsors]. I am in the latter group, but paying all my own costs. If anybody likes the pictures, or chooses to have a presentation at a club night, they can make a donation. Seems like a 'win - win' result.
