Nurburgring - Where to stay?
Discussion
Hello everyone. Heading off to the Alps and stopping for three nights at the ring on the way back. I'm really after some advce about where to stay. It will be in August so I expect it will be very busy. I'm after the following:
-Looking for the full experience of staying at the 'ring. This will be my first time, so I want to be fairly near the track in the thick of it all. It would be nice to have lots of nice cars parked outside our hotel and fellow petrolheads to talk to. Is Adenau out of the action?
-Would be nice to have some good food and beer at the end of each day, so restaurants and bars within walking distance would be good. A hotel with a good bar would be a bonus!
-Need somewhere that is clean and comfortble but does not cost the earth.
I've been trying to research this on my wn but I really need advice form those who have been themselves. I don't know whether to stay in Nurburg or Adenau.
Any recommendation would be much apreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

I always stay at the Dorint. All the restaurants are in walking distance, even for me. :-) And the restaurants are all good.
Thanks,I've tried getting a quote on their website but the booking system says I have to ring first and I can't at the moment. Can you tell me approximatelyhow much they charge per night? How much of a walk is it to cnral Nurburg?
Thanks

It's about a 10-minute walk at a slow pace to the furthest restaurant from the hotel. That's usually the pace I'm staggering at on the way back! :-D There is Die Kleine Kneipe just round the corner from the hotel, about 5 minutes walk (also back!

Personally I would recommend the Am Tiertgarten , run by the Schmitz family (of Sabine fame).

Great restaurant with the Pistenklause in the ground floor and great atmosphere in the evenings, sounds like just what you want to me.

I have stayed at Eddies the last two times I have been. Rates vary from 25 to 45 euros per night depending on whether you stay at the hotel, one of hs rental houses, or the new apartments next door to the hotel. If you stay at the hotel or apartments, then you get to look out over the track.

Five of us stayed here last weekend for the 24hr. Great food and drink. Very friendly and reasonably priced. It's a 15 min straight drive up to the track, located in beautiful countryside. Hostess/owner: Jacqueline and her staff very warm and accommodating. Highly recommended.
As fo the 24hr. We saw three UK registered cars during our entire weekend. Belgian police and cameras quite evident in their 'section' the German part of the route - great. Actually surprising how disciplined German drivers are. Unlike LM24 - no road tolls. Petrol up to 1.45 Euros/litre.

My cousin has an apartment that sleeps 4 in Adenau. It is brand new and right next to the track. You can walk to a viewing point in 1 minute and watch cars going on to the track at the half way point from the front of the apartment. Loads of nice bar and pubs nearby. If you email me your details I will pass you his number.
All the best

Thats where I'm staying from the 20th August. I think they still have some room left, but most of the accommodation in town was full when I tried. Try http://www.burgstube.com/ as they still had some room, but I was after a single and they only had doubles left. What dates are you going to be there ??

Yeah, that's kind of why we're going that weekend, Le Mans series. But we were there last year for it (and the Youngtimer race on the Nordschleife) and it wasn't at all busy...http://www.nuerburgring.de/events/single-view.html...
