Looks quite cool but the websites very 1997 in design and technology.

I'd suggest you get a forum so people can post/talk, if a potential participant can talk to your other confirmed participants and get some banter going their more likely to cough up as on a road trip your going to want a community feel.

Also the payment options are lacking somewhat, I would consider making a payment of 500GBP via paypal, but in no way would I pay the remaining 3k via paypal, the fee's you'll get charged much be astronomical not to mention the lack of VAT number on any of the pages.

Sorry for the neg feedback (you did ask :P ) but your event is always going to be compared to the gumball3000 event which is an impossibly high bar to reach.
