PH Sunday Service & BBQ

Wet weather failed to dampen appetites at our latest Sunday Service hosted by Nissan UK

Following the success of the last PistonHeads meet at Nissan HQ, we decided to head back again for round two at the weekend, only this time we fired up the BBQ. As is traditional for such occasions - it rained!

Performance Nissans old and new
Performance Nissans old and new
Fortunately the wet weather didn't stop play and we were treated to around 200 performance vehicles ranging from lovely classics like the MK1 Escort and 420 SEAC to the more modern but equally fantastic Gallardos and 997 Turbos. The queue of hungry PHers at the Nissan BBQ seemed well-satisfied with quality 'home-made' bacon/cheeseburgers at a fantastic £2 a pop, and you could also check out our latest merchandise on the PH stand.

If that wasn't enough you could suffer permanent hearing damage from a number of rather noisy TVRs and an Evo fitted with Anti-Lag, wonder how wet the Ariel Atom driver was going to get on the way home, or simply wander around the collected cars to get your envy glands working at full pitch.

The usual eclectic mix of PH machinery

It was another great meet, and we'd like to thank all of you who braved the weather, and especially the team at Nissan UK for looking after us so well.

Keep an eye on the home page for more Sunday Service meets, as the PH Church of Speed remains the only one worth getting up early on a Sunday for!

Thanks to Dave (Pher DCS01) for the piccies. We'll upload more when the CD arrives!

Is Nissan the only manufacturer to do something "down to earth" and cool like this?

Respect.

This sounded like a fun weekend - shame about the rain - hope it didn't dampen to many spirits!

Is there any chance of Nissan doing the same at their UK manufacturing base at Washington, Tyne and Wear? They have lots of facilities and a HUGE car park. They even have a test track biggrin but I doubt they would let anyone near that. Anyway, they may be willing, if approached by PH hierarchy, and it would be nice to have a meet ooop north!

Yeah i'd definatley up for a meet up in Washington - its not too far away from me either. The meets right down south are always far too far to go for a day out =[

I know going back a few years to when I was in 6th form, Nissan Manufacturing UK took us on a trip round the factory including going over the test track, so it's not necessarily off limits...

Many more images etc on the original thread here:

Again though, thanks to Nissan.

Looking forward to the Mercedes one, maybe I can shame them with my rusty 10-year-old AMG seeing how the dealers look at me like I'm mad when I ask about their goodwill out-of-warranty bodywork repair scheme biggrin
