PH Sunday Service: Pictures

Yesterday saw the best-ever attendance at a PH meet, even the sunshine decided to turn up!

At 7.45am yesterday I was attaching PH direction signs to lamp posts along the drive of Mercedes-Benz World, when M-BW man Simon Bench asked how many cars were going to turn up. It's never an easy question to answer, but the sun was out so I confidently suggested we ought to break the 150 mark...

The space we had been allocated at M-B World was huge, but 15 minutes later the first cars started to arrive - an hour earlier than we were expecting! Fast forward two hours and I had become the worlds busiest parking attendant. In fact I actually wondered if all the PH cars would fit into the space that looked so vast only a short while ago. I had waved in everything from a custom US pickup to a Ferrari F40 and still they were coming.

In the end we reckoned that anything up to 400 PH cars were parked in the glorious Surrey sunshine, right alongside the M-BW test track where a selection of AMG models spectacularly wasted their rear tyres throughout the day.

Not only did we have an amazing display of PH cars to keep us entertained, but we also had the run of the Mercedes-Benz World facility. Those of you who have been there will know that it is a very impressive venue indeed, but as if that wasn't enough our hosts also showed the Grand Prix on their big screen, helping to make this one very special Sunday Service meet and an all time record-breaker in terms of attendance.

For those who came along, thank you for helping to make the day such a success. For those who couldn't make it this time please enjoy these pictures from the day. (Some of which have been taken from PHers' own images posted in the Events forum, so take a look in there for more.) Thanks also to PHer Nick Williams who took shots of the cars as they entered the parking area, and of course a big thank you to Mercedes-Benz World for having us!

LOL, I saw that Morris Minor driving around Kingston the other week, and laughed when I saw the PH sticker in the back window!

It looked like a great day, I must make an effort to get to one.

Owned by a very long term PHer (well, his wife anyway) and it shares the driveway with some rather nice fast cars smile

I used to pass M-BW on the train whenever I went into London from Farnham, occasionally there'd be some cars going up and down the runway, so when I heard this was happening I fully intended to go... Then got tonsilitus. Really wish I'd gone, do you reckon it'll happen again at any point? I'm hesitant of attending a meet with limited spaces on account of what I drive!

Highlight of the show for me was the gorgeous green Mondeo saloon!

It's the attitude, not the metal - one of the reasons a PHSS is hard to beat. There's no snobbery here biggrin

Also, Garlick, if you want a volunteer corps for the next one to help with marshalling I'm sure there's enough people willing to step up, me included.

Oh it's not snobbery I'm worried about, its the fact that if I turn up to a meet with say, 150 spaces, a space that could be occupied by something like the F40 in the article will have a nice scraped up Clio 1.4 16v with bits of its interior trim lying on the floor! I'd just feel guilty...

We probably won't return to Mercedes Benz World again until next year (we haven't even discussed a return visit yet) but we still have three more Sunday Service meets left for 2009, and maybe a few more to come after that too.

Keep an eye on the home page tomorrow for details of the next meet taking place in a couple of weeks time.

Hi guys
just decided to join you all today. I work at MB World and was there on Sunday, unfortunately working. It was absolutely fantastic having you all there and the staff enjoyed it just as much as you did. We look forward to a repeat visit.

loopey-lin,

I'm sure I speak for almost everyone when I say, well done and thanks, and please pass on everyone's appreciation to the staff, from the cafe (busy day!) to the drivers (should he be wearing a '#69' helmet?! - glad he gets away with it!) to the cleaners, PR staff and everyone else. A credit to your organisation. clap

Now, how about a discount on the sandwiches for those of us with Mercedes keys next time? paperbagtumbleweed

Also, does the guy who drives the 1hp Benz get to drive AMGs as well? Hopefully without the top hat!
