Mercedes-Benz World Sunday Service: The Review
Another great turnout at Mercedes-Benz World as PistonHeads hosted the last Sunday Service of the year
The year 2009 will go down in history as the year of the PistonHeads Sunday Service. We started off the year being pleased with 100 cars and an expanse of tarmac to use, and ended with 400 cars being the 'norm' and car manufacturers opening their doors to us, laying on hot food and activities. Quite how we'll improve on this for 2010 remains to be seen...
Yesterday we saw our area of tarmac fill up very rapidly as yet again almost 400 cars arrived early to wander amongst a mixture of PHers' metal and Mercedes-Benz's finest with some track activity thrown in for good measure. For this meet, we invited you to take part in a 'Powerslide Challenge', where 10 PHers would be given a C63 AMG to play with while the Mercedes-Benz World instructors measured how long the4 contestants could hold a drift for.
It's only fair that we give due credit to the top three, so the new official PH (Sunday Service) sideways champions are:
1 - Philip Hall
2 - Yogesh Parmar
3 - Matt Neame
Well done chaps - it wasn't easy to hold a drift with hundreds of people watching. Even less so with an instructor eyeing your every move.
PH would like to extend thanks to Simon and the team at Mercedes-Benz World for looking after us all so well (again), to Nick Williams for the photographs included within this story, and for all of the PHers who have helped to make 2009 such a good year by turning up so early to all of our Sunday meets.
We'll see you all next year at the first PH meet of 2010.
Great day out and thanks for the opportunity to take part in the Power-Sliding competition. Thanks to PH and MB.
Mat

This was the first time i'd been to a PH meet and although it was only a flying visit i have to say wow ! what an impressive array of cars, a well organised event. thanks to all involved.
I was in the Lotus Carlton, the only complaint was from my 14 yr old son, why's there no R8s !! (his dream car)
Thanks again

Bloody cold drive in the Dax, no screen, no heater, no windows, (in fact nothing that girls would like!!!!), and a 120ish mile round trip. Good morning out though!
