Take Part In The PH Caterham Challenge

PistonHeads launch the 2010 Autoglym PistonHeads Caterham Challenge

We are very pleased to announce a new venture with Caterham Cars and Autoglym that offers PHers a fantastic day of driving along with the added bonus of a competitive element too. The Autoglym PistonHeads Caterham Challenge (a bit of a mouthful so shortened to APCC) will be held over several qualifying rounds, with the best drivers from each round going through to a grand final.

Competitors will test their car control skills in 150bhp versions of Caterham’s legendary Seven at venues across the UK, including Brands Hatch and Silverstone. The top three drivers from each of the rounds will automatically be entered into the final, in which they will compete for both eternal notoriety and a collection of excellent prizes. However, the day itself is great fun and the final is just an added bonus as we can guarantee that all those who attend will have a fantastic and exhausting day.

Places for the APCC rounds, which start at Brands Hatch on April 22 and Silverstone on April 24, will cost £195 each and will be based on the hugely popular Caterham Drive Experience (CDX) days. Throughout the day you will take part in slaloms and a whole host of other driving activities designed to test your skills but, of course, you will recieve thorough training along the way. Most impotantly it's a very relaxed environment and above all else a great laugh.

The final – free for all those who qualifiy – will take place in September 2010. All finalists will receive a fully-stocked Autoglym car care valet case and the champion will win a prize package that includes:

The chance to take their own car to Autoglym’s Letchworth HQ for a full valet performed by its team of experts

A slot to take part in a car test with the PistonHeads.com editorial team

A Caterham Seven for a weekend, as well as tickets to the end-of-season Caterham Awards ceremony

Driver places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. For more information, and to book your space please call Caterham directly on 01883 333700

or book online.

The PH team looks forward to seeing you at the events, and we extend our thanks to Autoglym and Caterham for making it happen.

Anyone know roughly what time you get in the car? And also which configurations of the Silverstone track you would drive?

Any age requirements for this?
I will only be 18 at the time and wondered whether you might have to be 21 or something :/

To answer some of your questions ref APCC: we're not able to book Saturdays at Brands Hatch because MSV holds all weekend dates for racing; amount of time in the car on APCC events will depend on a lot of things including how quick competitors are at getting in and out of the cars, how fast you all are wink but rest assured you won't want for wheel time; age restrictions - as long as you have a full driving license there is no age restriction, although if you have a full license and are under 18, you'll need an adult to sign the indemnity on your behalf.

Hope that helps!

Also... to clarify, the APCC events will be based on the CDX slalom days, so although there might be a couple of extra driving activities over and above that (dependant on time on the day) track driving won't be part of the experience.

And... if your'e hoping to get on to the Silverstone day in April, move fast - it's already approaching capacity!!

did a CDX slalom day at Dunsfold a couple of years ago - never thought you could have so much fun without getting out of 1st gear!!! Was lucky enough to win the fastest driver of the day & was presented with an Autoglym cleaning kit & a Caterham baseball Cap! The caterham guys (& girls) were great & Stigette provided some glamour on the day! Thanks go to my other half for the pressie!

Wow, I had a great day today, fantastic event and the CDX team made it thoroughly enjoyable. Thanks to PH & Caterham for sorting this.

I'm still not sure how, but I managed 3rd place and an advance to the final event later in the year! I can't wait to get back in a Caterham again!

Im considering buying a Caterham and getting involved in a season...
Im a total beginer other than a few track days, what does one need, licence etc?
And what are the major costs?....
How does one start an amateur racing career?
