Circuit des Remparts
Discussion
I can't cope with the two year wait until LMC 2012!
Tripped over this on the internet. The photos look amazing: http://www.circuit-des-remparts.com/index2-id_page...
Has anyone been? Would you recommend it? Looks awesome...

I,ve been organising trips to the "Remparts" for up to 20 TVR,s since the early 90,s. Its a good event, lots of brits and if the route down is chosen well a great trip. We use it as a reason to go through rural France as much as anything and make it a holiday rather than just a blast down and back. The racing on sunday can be good, the rally on saturday is good if you take part and equally good if you take a picnic and watch it "en route" and the atmosphere in the town is great for people and car watching. Goodwood or Le Mans it isn,t but the weather in Charente in september is the best, good region to stay in. The only downside as far as I am concerned is that the local authority have let the shrubbery on the remparts get a bit out of hand so the view is not as good as it used to be but a great event all the same. Give it a try but dont expect Le Mans, its not better, its not worse its different.
ps spanish we were staying on speedchills over the weekend, you probably didn,t notice but were in the red TVR Grantura.

Apologies for not searching - I really should know better
Thanks for the info Gamekeeper - very helpful. One of my group says he saw you arrive, whilst we were in the beer tent, but not parked up. I don't remember seeing you parked in the campsite - where were you pitched? I do however remember seeing a vintage red TVR (not sure which model, but looking yours up on Google - it could have been a Grantura), being astounded to discover it was a TVR, and then asking one of the group to guess what it was - and they were surprised to discover it was a TVR too. I can't recall whether that was on the campsite or in the car park in Arnage. Were you in the latter too? Thought I had taken a photo of it, but it appears not
Did you have a good time?

Went last year for the first time, it is a pretty good event. Much more laid back than some but great cars both on and off track.
Some pictures that may give you an idea on the link. Not many places you can get to see 20+ Bugatti type 29's and 35's all on the same grid.

Made it to Angouleme last year and really enjoyed it. As you quite rightly said two years is a along time to wait. I had previously added photos to the thread just hi-lighted so hope you find them useful. You can get accommodation pretty easily as we found out and parking in sub-terrainian car parks (if the weather turns) is not difficult. Found some glorious stable mates ;0) Plenty to see and close racing too!
Do your own thing or pay someone else, it's up to you.
Enjoy!

Hi spanish, sorry about delay in replying, been playing catchup after the weekend. Looks like you have made the right decision to go, even if you don,t enjoy the Remparts, Charente in september needs no excuse. We had a great time at Classic LM, would be hard not to. My car was parked right at the back of Speedchills in the middle near the trees in an attempt to find some shade. We were at Arnage on friday and parked on TVRCC France plot on saturday and sunday. "Vintage" is a bit strong for my car its only 47 years old! If you are interested google "TVR the early years".
