Rolls-Royce Sunday Service - Update

If you are planning to join us on Sunday, make sure you read this

Thanks to overwhelming support from PHers for this weekend's Sunday Service at Rolls-Royce, we have filled all of the available 350 spaces and have a reserve list of almost 50 cars too.

We want to ensure that everyone has a great day at the Goodwood plant and that things run as smoothly as possible, so we ask that all of you who are planning to attend read through the instructions below to help us make the day a success.

Entry to the Rolls-Royce site will be via the Stane Street entrance only, and not the main drive as you might expect. Please make a note of this for your sat-navs and route plans.

Gates will open at 09.00 and will close at 13.00.

We will park in two car parks, filling the front car park first before moving on to the car park to the side of the plant. If you park in the front car park you will not be able to move your vehicle until 12.00 at the earliest as this area is the main walkway for pedestrians. If you would like to leave earlier than this, please tell the staff on the gate as you arrive. The other car park offers free access and you can come and go as you please.

Factory tours will run from 09.00 to 13.00 and will be charged at £5 per person - all proceeds will go to the Sussex Air Ambulance. Please do not rush to attend the 09.00 tour as there will be plenty of other opportunities throughout the morning.

Access to the plant is gained by driving through a residential area. Please remember that the event runs all morning, and try to avoid a gridlock situation leading up to the 09.00 opening. It might be better to stagger arrival to ensure that the entry point doesn't become jammed. If traffic issues do arise, please remember that the guys on the gate are volunteers who have given up their time to assist PHers - give them the respect they deserve as they have turned up to help you enjoy your day.

If your name is down as one of the 350 guaranteed spaces, yet you can no longer make it, please remove your name from the calendar as soon as possible so the space can be used by someone else.

If you are on the reserve list, or still fancy coming along, we strongly recommend that you arrive no earlier than 11.00 as this will give adequate time for some of the early arrivals to leave, creating some additional spaces for the reserves.

Additional parking outside of the Rolls-Royce facility is not available due to the close proximity to residents. We can also only offer a finite number of tours and breakfasts, hence attempting to manage numbers through PH. If you are considering attending, please make sure your name is on the calendar.

This promises to be a great meet, the guys at Rolls-Royce are looking forward to welcoming you, and the PH team are too. Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing some of you on the day.

No problem regarding the change of car.

As for photography, as far as I recall it is not allowed inside of the plant at all. That said, I'm sure that the tour guide will be able to tell you where you can/ can't take pics on the day.

Hi garlick, I've just checked the list again cause of the reminder.
Now I'm sure my name was at 127 or 107, I put my name down weeks back. Just looked though and its not there.

Garlick,

Im on the list (number 31) but have 2 cars down... my dad will be coming in his Cayman...

Is this ok?

Are we going to be parking in the courtyard area again? If so, I assume that is the car park to the front?

The carpark to the side... is that one left hand side of the courtyard (small one) or the one to the right (big one a 2 mins walk from the courtyard)

Sorry for all the questions, looking forward to it!

Oh no, that's not good at all. I'll ask to see if Pete or Will can see what happened.

We have 350 spaces available and one or two (literally) here and there that could be used if needed. As your name has been dropped off the list, technically your space has been lost. Is there any chance that you could arrive for 11.00, I think that may be the best option.....at least until we try and establish what happened with your spot.

In an ideal world we would rather that two spaces were signed up for, as we only have 350 spaces and 350 signed up. We should be able to sort something out using one of the few overflow spaces available.

That's right, the courtyard is the one to the front (incorporating all spaces around the main building) and the side car park is the one accessed via the path.

I did forget to mention that we will check names on the gate too, as this means we will be able to keep a better handle on available reserve spaces.

Hi Garlick,
I'm slighty concerned that on arrival (around 8:45- 9:00am ish) there will be no parking available, if this is the case is there any parking within walking distance?
I'm currently 289 on the list so technically I should be able to park but in reality this may not happen. As my 5 year old son will be coming with me I just wanted to ask the question. He won't be happy if he doesn't see a Roller or two LOL
I know most of the above is out of your control but wanted to ask :-).....bet you never thought it would be this busy???

All that said, I thank you for sorting out this great opportunity and other than the stress of parking should be a fantastic morning :-)

See you there!!

Cheers

Hi Ian

I would imagine that the 09.00 gate opening will result in some traffic congestion initially, hence me asking that not everyone rushes to be there for 09.00 sharp. That said, we have 350 spaces available, so there shouldn't be any reason why 350 cars won't get parked up relatively easily.

I think you will be fine at that time, but I'm afraid that parking outside of the venue is limited to say the least.

Hi Garlick,
Thanks for your reply, is it a case of "if your not on the list your not coming in"?

Just for clarification for all ;-)

It will be for the first hour or two at least, after 11.00 we will assume that those arriving are from the reserve list and we will park up as soon as a space is available.

Honestly, I think parking will be fine so come along for the time suggested in your earlier post.

Hi

Have just amended some car details and have now dropped from 89 (I think) to 405. Some others seem to have had this problem, what is the best thing to do.

Note to everyone else - DON'T AMEND YOUR ENTRY!

Cheers
