Do any pistonheaders shoot?????
Discussion
I am still new here, so hello to everyone.
I have seen the black tie do that is coming up soon, and wondered if that is one of the few social get togethers that is organized- I have seen the regional forums too though.
So, the big question- does anyone here shoot clays? Would anyone be interested - if there is suffucuent support- to do a days clays shooting/ big social do at a shooting ground. Im thinking nice cars, good food, and hopefully get a few prizes, raffle, auction etc to raise a few quid for a charity- if everyone can agree on one??
Any interested parties????
There must be a fair few here that shoot, but it would be good to get some folk there that have never done it but would like a go??

I'll be there, which may limit numbers!!
Where are you suggesting- risely is a great venue, but of course depends on who is coming from where?
Great idea to get novices there too- it's a superb sport and a good laugh- I have introduced three of four folk to it who had never gone because they thought it was a toffs game

I shoot, going back to uni soon though so probably wouldn't be able to make it.
If you are looking for a good days clay shooting, I would reccomend the West London Shooting School.
They do some fantastic game simulator days. Its not cheap (£250-£300 for a day) but its well worth it. They provide lunch drinks etc too as part of the package.

I shoot at lots of things (don't often hit them though!) I haven't done clays for a good while and it was March when I last shot at some live pigeons, I find that these tast better than the clay ones.
If the price is reasonable (way less than £200!), it's not the other side of the country and you promise not to laugh I could be persuaded.

That was quick!!
Righto- anyone interested, add your name here, and your location- Luftwaffe suggested we see where folk are, then decide on a venue. He has also said he will organize some prizes.
Any suggestions for a charity appreciated too??? I think the idea is to get as many as we can, and put a fiver or a tenner on the cost, then donate?

Leftwaffe> I'd love to attend but I'd be afraid of shooting you down
How accessable a sport is it for a newbie? I'm looking to take up a country sport of some sort and shooting is looking quite appealing.
It depends - what do you want to shoot at - clays or live things?

If you just want to shoot clays, and you have never shot a gun before, then take some lessons. You'll soon find out if you like it, and more importantly they will teach you to be safe before you get anywhere near a gun.
If you like it, you'll need to get yourself a shotgun. Before you can do that, you'll need to get a Shotgun Certificate. Before you can do that, you'll need to fill in some forms, get a gun cabinet installed, and get a visit from your local police firearms person.
Oh, and to the OP, I might be interested, depending on where and when it is.
