Went on a trip to the lakes.
Discussion
Thought you might like a quick write up of our trip to the lakes. Specifically, the Hardknott pass which turned out to be a bit TOO hard
The Saturday morning I drove up to meet the other guys who had stayed up there the Friday night.
And off we went. 2 Renault 21 Turbo Quadra, a 21 Turbo 2wd, A Clio 172 cup and a BMW M3. None standard.
All 3 21's are well modded, mine is stripped out too. Some here have 'met' it
The Clio is also stripped, slammed and has big brakes and the M3 has an exhaust, filter and a remap and sports the most power, 321bhp, compared to the mid 200's for the 21's and 200-ish for the Clio.

We all knew it was going to get messy when the bonnet pins on the Clio were overlooked on the Thursday...

The roads up there are truly insane. Very tight, very badly maintained in places but the scenery is astounding.

We 'dawdled' across the roads toward the Hardknott. That little Clio is properly rapid, planted, skilled driver. Very impressed and i'm only reeling him in when the big torque comes into play in 4th...

So we get to the start of the Hardknott. Lovely. I survey the epicness before me with a twitching accelerator foot.

Off we go. Warming up, with a Clio and an M3 attached to my bumper. I tighten my harness and prepare for what I thought would be an onslaught of gearchanges and brake pedal mashings combined with ring-twitch from the very changeable road conditions. Wet-Dry-Gravel-Slippy-off camber....you name it. Little did I know......51 seconds later....

Just to give you some idea the impact knocked my phone off the dash tray, the satnav out of the holder and it emptied the passenger doorwell on the floor. Also, my spine liquified and my teeth fell out.
First glance-

Further investigation showed this-

containing this-

To give a size relation, thats about the size of 3 coke cans together in a triangle shape. f
king OW.
Good job I got a full size spare!

Seems the brake discs dont take kindly to my abusive tactics. You can only see the bigger ones but there's lots and lots of tiny heat fractures on there lol

So on we go. Seriously, if anyone ever says "Hardknott pass" your reply should start with "No", end with "No" and also contain "No" in the middle.

And thats a GOOD bit.

We stopped for lunch and surveyed the rest of the damage. The BM clipped the same rock as me-

Both 21's took damage too, one just the tyre, the other the rim too.

We finished the day off with some faster, wider, normal roads thank god and retired to the boozer for dinner and beer. Lots of beer. The next morning I awoke to find some little b
ds had been busy.....I work for Cadburys btw....

Pile of tossers. Lee & Lee as mentioned in the pics are the idiot children to blame.
We decided seeing as 4 of us had taken damage and 2 of us were spare-less now to call it quits Sunday morning and we romped back down south at warp factor eleventy six.
I left the posters on all the way home
