Heading over the day of that Royal wedding (29th April), so the weekend after Easter. Will hopefully be a bit quieter too. Track only open all day on the Friday & Sunday though
Ditto. I think it'll be a popular choice with the brits. What are you taking?
So far we have a turbo'd Mx5, a "standard"(ish) Mx5 and a Lexus V8 engined S13.
I'm toying with the idea of going over that weekend too, i'd be going on my own though and i'm both a track and 'Ring virgin.
Would i need to book anything in advance (tunnel / hotels etc...) or can i roll up on the day and pay there and then?
Would anybody be keen on going in a convoy?

Well we're taking the ferry from Dover (P&O) on the Friday at 12:40, so you're welcome to follow us if you manage to get on the same crossing. You'd best book your accommodation before you go, although there are plenty of places to stay. they do get full. I stayed here http://www.hotel-wilhelmshoehe.de/ in 2009 and it was excellent. The owners wife is English, so language isn't a problem and I think it cost me about €35 a night in a single room.
What car you taking?

You sure you wouldn't mind a tag along? How many of you are going? Are you going through an organisation or doing it by yourselves?I stayed here http://www.hotel-wilhelmshoehe.de/ in 2009 and it was excellent. Have you all sorted insurance out or risking it?
I'd go in my TVR T350. Don't plan on setting any records though, mainly doing it for one of those life experiences thingys - and the buzz of pressing on a bit

Obtained insurance on first trip but not the second as the only company i could find/was recommended quoted £450 for one day so didnt bother. You just need to know your limits and keep your eyes on your mirrors for faster traffic coming up. The risk i found personally was that its extremely addictive and encourages you to push harder each lap. Also important to bear in mind you have to pay for any damage you cause to track (armco) and potentially for loss of earnings if they have to close the track

Well worth a trip though. Especially with the roads around Nurburg and the autobahns.
Maybe i could tag along too? Although i do like the Eurostar as its faster. Be good to go with another T350

Sure the TVR will make it that far <grin>Have you all sorted insurance out or risking it?

No problem with a tag along, our accommodation is full (we're staying in an apartment at Hotel an der Nordschleife), so you'd have to find your own gaff (same hotel probably has some space available)
Nürburgring is not specifically excluded on my policy, so I *might* be covered, but I certainly don't intend finding out! My passenger is a bit of a 'ring expert and will gladly give advice on the right lines and stuff (for a pint or two!).
There are only four of us going - in two cars (Me Mito Cloverleaf and Paul in a 370Z)
