Never done a run before but a buddy put me on to this at Christmas so I booked it and along with my sone we went yesterday in my Royale Sabre. And what a fabulous day out it was.

All for charity, cost £80 and it was well worth double that. Two hundred cars pre booked and paid, met at a garden centre in Woburn Sands and after breakfast were given a route split into three sections. Our start time was 10:07 and they did the rally countdown and flagged each car off bit, so it was wheelspin departures for everyone. First section about 30 miles via small back roads ending up at the Millbrook testing ground. We then each got two laps of the hill track - I think they call it the out track, and that was magnificent. I can't believe how beautiful the Bedfordshire countryside is as we weaved and dipped around a winding hilly course. All too soon the two laps were up. Tried to get another lap or two but they weren't having any. Boo hoo. But that was fabulous. Saw two Westie's lose their exhausts as they bottomed in one of the big dips and mine seriously grounded too, but at least it stayed on.

Then it was on to Section Two.

Millbrook to Quainton (??) Steam railway. Again similar small backroads and another 30 miles or so through the beautiful countryside and at Quainton we all stood round admiring each others cars and bullstting about how well we'd done round Millbrook.

Then on to Section Three

Another c40 miles of criss crossing Buckinghamshire via just about every village to end up at Silverstone where we went round the Porsche experience track, a wet skid pan type section. My son was driving and had the time of his life.

Then a hog roast and up on the roof of the Porsche building watching the motor racing for an hour or so.

Fabulous day out and if anyone knows of any similar events coming up PLEASE let me know 'cos it was the best day out I've had in years.

Oh and as regards what cars were there, the full range of just about everything you can think of. Ferrari's and Lambo's and Aston's were getting a bit common, right down to a Viva van and an A30 in original condition i.e. as rusty as a rusty thing that's gone rusty. Rumour had it there was a Veyron in the procession but we didn't see it.

Roll on next year, already put my name down, but I want to go again next weekend!!.

Any similar events you know of?

Was on it aswell. Had a fantastic day out, although got lost a few too many times.

Highlight of the day - Watching my mate drive the Hill Route with some enormous commitment.

He was overtaking someone going over the Ski Jump coming down Loop 3 when his exhaust produced a massive backfire with a huge smoke cloud. I was crying with laughter for the next lap.

Saw some people drive over the transmission ridges at the start too - Oops!
