1982 should be non-verto, doesn't mean to say that someone hasn't fitted a later engine.does anyone know what clutch i need for my 1982 mini 1000 city because ive been told many different types and i need to know what one.

Easiest way to check is to measure the clutch lever arm,

Left is verto, right is pre-verto
If the engine is unmodified the standard factory clutch kit should be fine.
If you're doing it yourself, it's a pig to change the clutch without taking the engine out.
You'll need an 11mm flexible head ratchet spanner to get the clutch housing bolts off and a lot of patience!
And a decent flywheel puller.
Get a replacement oil seal for the crank to flywheel housing, use the later one from the MPI mini's, borrow the fitting tool, don't just push it in!
Check the gudgeon pins on the clutch arm for wear and replace if necessary.
Check the slave cylinder oil seals while you've got it disconnected.
