Gearbox Casing Crack Repair

One of the casings on the spare Insight gearbox has a small crack in the area around the diff crownwheel as a resultof an impact, its in a non structural area.
I'm torn between using some JB Weld after cleaning it out, or getting it dine properly and popping to the local machine shop and getting it big welded.
