Hi,
I still haven't solved the hot-start problem on my Bowler but have a work-around at the moment. Another thing I would like to cure is the noise from the high-pressure pump as at the moment it is quite noticeable up to 30mph (after that road and wind noise takes over). I think that the main problem is that the pump is mounted to the passenger foot well which, combined with the air box which is also bolted to the foot well, acts as a resonating chamber. The pump is flexibly mounted with fabric-reinforced rubber strip between the bracket and foot well and also on the panel side of the retaining nut/washer combination but I guess that this is too stiff.

Would I hear an improvement if I welded a bracket to the foot well frame or am I better off using a more flexible mounting arrangement?

cheers

What pump is it?

The ideal method for mounting a Bosch 044 is to wrap it in a sleeve of closed cell foam in a large clamp. If you have another design then how about making a box you can line with foam to house it>

Hi,
sorry for delay, pump is Bosch 0580464070. I am going to weld a stiffer bracket onto the footwell frame and use softer rubber to isolate the pump carrier from the mounting bracket.

Sytec sell a nice mount with some foam in it. Or cheaper option is mount using soft rubber bobbins, or try and cover the pump with some sound deadening material.

Hi,
thank you for suggestions, the rigid bracket welded to the footwell frame has quietened it down to an acceptable level - if you listen for it you can hear the pump running but it is nowhere near as obtrusive as it used to be.
