Being a fan of Mr J Clarkson I have never cared much for my NOx footprint and all I hear (and suffer from) are problems with EGR in general.
Since it offers little benefit to my engine's internals other than(possibly)a slightly quicker warm-up in very cold conditions, I would like to canvass any technicians out there for their knowledge and experience with this particular engine in removing and deleting EGR hardware & software code or re-programming the code to work only when I want it to.
In particular I call upon Tame Technician. If anyone out there can steer him my way I'd be most grateful.

So what is the difference between removing something, and deleting it (other than the latter is a stupid Americanism?)

Remove = take out the hardware
Delete = term often used, referring to the deletion of the software code from the program that is resident in the ECU.

I have 'deleted' the EGR system on the Esprit V8. Deleted as in made up a blanking plate and fitted that at the join of the 2 parts of EGR pipework. No fault codes or other issues. Had any problem been found it would be extremely simple to revert to original.

Next will be the complete removal of the EGR valve and pipework.

I've only ever seen this term used in conjunction with the physical removal of parts. I also very much doubt code would be physically deleted from an ECU, far more likely an option is simply disabled within the configuration.

Guys, I really would appreciate replies only from those who do have experience with THIS Motor and Audi OBDII software. No offence intended, but I certainly didn't invite speculation on what might be done, nor discuss what has been done on unrelated motors, nor have a debate on the definitions of a word. Those who do have the relevant experience will know exactly what I am striving to learn. I have obviously chosen the wrong forum to gather this information!
As the Dragons say..."I'm out".
