Hello,

My wife has a Santa Fe 2004 2.7 V6 auto, with a issue for the first minute of driving. From a cold start and not started for a week or a few days.

When she starts the car it idles fine, goes into reverse and drive fine. But when you give it some throttle coming out of the drive, it surges in busts up the rev counter. Then after about a minute everything is a lot better. I've checked the oil in the autobox, it's red and still at the max mark.

Is it a engine or autobox issue?

Check the diagnostic codes and see if any are logged.

Had a similar issue on a Mivec mitsi FTO where the oil temp sensor for the autobox was "stuck", itd run fine when cold but when warm wouldnt shift correctly (or versa vicea...limp mode i suspect.

it doesn't go into limp mode. Just 1 min of slight surging up the rev counter.

You still need to get the diagnostics checked to see if anythings logged thatd point to the cause of the issue.
