Radweld...

Hi all,

Does anyone know if radweld can damage your engine? I have a mate from work who put radweld in his Audi A4 2.6 about 2 weeks ago and reckons it hasn't been running as well since, and today it is sounding seriously rough and cutting out at low revs!

Any thoughts / advice on this??

Why did he add it?

Is it possible that what he thought was a leak from the radiator was, in fact, the beginnings of a head gasket failure?

After taking the head off a car that had been radwelded and seeing what was left of the waterways I personally would just fix the leak rather than use that. But I can't think it would directly cause rough running.

...Unless it was added as an attempt to fix a mis-diagnosed overheating/coolant loss problem taht was, in fact, a blowing head gasket amnd what he's now experiencing is the result of coolant (and radweld ) finding its way into the combustion chamber?
