engine fault codes

anyone know what the engine fault code 01314 is for a petrol skoda fabia 2000 plate? looked on net which gives engine control module. If this is correct does this mean new one or is something else feeding back to this box. Car puts up epc, tcs,lights on dash after driving for 5 mins. then later cuts the engine also when on idle revs up and down between 500 to 1500 rpm sometimes.Just had new cam belt fitted went in garage ok came out with this problem went back to garage and checked abs censors they can not find the problem only read this code which they did'nt know what it ment. Is this just coincidence with having cam belt fitted.Much appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

If it's lighting up intermittently the EPC, TC and ABS lights it may be worth checking the speed sensors at the front wheel which are built into the abs sensors/wheel bearings on some models. Who did the diagnostic? Are they VAG approved? It would suggest all of the problems you're having. Worth checking with Euro Car parts or similar to see if the abs sensor is the ABS/Speed sensor and bearing all in one over the phone. If they are it's worth clearing any swarf that may have gathered around it then driving it up the road to see if the lights go out and stay out. If not get the ECU reset and get it on a scanner after it comes on again. If they have started the car up with the front wheels off the floor it may have triggered a sensitive sensor and caused the problem. Generally VAG cars do reset themselves after driving but not all do. Possible but without knowing if it's the all in one unit it's hard to be sure. Just ask over the phone what part it is (they will tell you) and ask how much the replacement ABS sensor is. If it's a cricket score then you'll know for definite that it's not just a small sensor and could rule out a lot of trouble. Check the wheel bearing yourself if you can and see if there's a wire coming from the hub itself. ABS sensors when used in singular use on VAG's are normally bolted to the lower flange or hub itself and easily visible. Like I say, if it is an all in one then the speed sensor will cause havoc with the ECU and will give random info to the computer like you're experiencing.

Having thought about it they're very similar if not identical running gear to a VW Polo which I believe (don't hold me to it) have the metal strip type bearing which is the magnetic pick up for the external ABS sensor. What happens with these types is they get contaminated / rusty and lose signal. If it's intermittent it could be your problem. Worth looking at the link below and trying to clean it. Be careful if you try to remove the ABS sensor though as they either fall out or fall apart on removal. The pick up on the sensor is flat where it rides gainst the inner side of the bearing from memory and it could be where the problem is. Well worth investigating before you start thinking of throwing a new ECU at it. Again, if you clean it and drive it you should find that after a short drive it 'should' reset itself.

The bearing is a pressed flange type and comes as part of the main hub assembly. If you're not sure and do have to replace it then take it somewhere that has a bench press and lots of patience cos these little gems are a pain to get right and the shape of the suspension leg makes it harder work. But again, look into it first and don't take what I've said as gospel. It's just from experience as I've had a few VW's go wrong.

Is it P1314 or C1314?

P for powertrain, C for Chassis.

if it is powertrain, typically 1314 can be an engine misfire code (anycode above approx 1000 is "manufacturer specific).
