right, after briefly reading a thread about using alternative fuels in diesels, ive decided that im going to start using waste oil in my dturbo
i can get it free, my friend who owns a garage has just replied to my text saying he's got around 700 litres of the stuff i can have!
is there anything i need to do, like mixing with diesel? or is it just a case of throwing it in?
any thoughts will be massivly appreciated
also, this is for my field car, not for my road car, im a good boy and pay all my taxes!

thanks, that was the thread i was reading, which inspired me!anyway, ive done it, ive commited! i put around 15l of waste oil in, with £10 of diesel, so around 7 litres, and a glug of 2stroke oil to help it all burn that bit better!
my only comments so far are, it smokes a hell of a lot more than it used to ( i have fiddled with the fuel pump so it smoked anyway) the smoke has a bluey tinge to it, thats visible through the rear view, but i guess thats the oil burning, and it stinks!
other than that, good, but i have only done around 30miles, so we will see how its starts tommorrow, if its ok, then i may put a slosh more oil in!
Waste engine oil is horrible stuff to burn in a diesel. By its very nature it has a high soot content (especially oil from diesels) leading to excessive coking in the cylinders and plugging of the injectors, let alone the issues with the fuel filters getting overwhelmed. Oil contains a lot of additives, many of which will form hard ash deposits as they burn. There's also the metal content in the oil, causing wear problems in the pump and injectors.
Many of those that have tried it have experienced problematic starting and running in very few miles. If you must find a use for WMO then stick to using in heaters designed for the purpose. Even filtering and centrifuging won't help as many of the contaminants are at the sub micron level and no heavier than the oil itself.

i thank you for your concerns, but they fall upon deaf ears!
it started first time this morning, and has had no problems at all throughout the course of the day!
i have put a little two stroke oil in there too, as this cleans the deposits, so should help to slow down the carbon deposits, i spose it also helps i boot it everywhere!!
in all honesty, im not to bothered, the deposits will take ages to coke up, and if it can get through the filters then it can through the injectors!
this is in a 250quid banger, not a modern, looked after car!
mind you, i have found somewhere that sells heating oil in 25l drums for 65p a litre!
