Hi, I'm re-commissioning a citroen cx pallas with L-jetronic fuel injection. I have a good spark and the fuel pumps working correctly. The car starts but will not run for more than a second or two before conking out. If I press the throttle that usually kills it, (also sometimes backfires in air intake camber)at the same time. I've tried everything and am at my wits end!!!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks guy for your advice smile I've just come in after completely removing and checking every hose and they are all 100%. Infact like new, not brittle or perished at all, clips good too! I have had the air temp. sensor off and it was fully open (as it should be..cold day) ran hot waster over and yep closed nicely, so no problem there. The prob. seems to be lack of fuel. When cranking its instantly firing and wanting to take off but is just short and if the starter stops helping it, it conks out after a second or two. Also stops after about 8 seconds of cranking, which would correspond with the cold start injector shutting off?!

I've checked fuel delivery and that looks plentiful with good pressure.

Another point, when cranking if a apply even a tiny amount of thottle that kills the firing dead!!??

Any thought really welcome guys smile

P.s Know any citroen enthusiasts nr harrogate?

The engine cutting out when you open the throttle, coupled with backfires indicate fuel starvation. Have you actually measured the fuel pressure at the fuel rail? Very low fuel pressure will give exactly the symptoms you have described.
