I am stripping an engine for a rebuild at the moment, is it worth replacing the core plugs whilst access is easy or just leave them as they are ok?

If they're not excessively rusty on the waterway side I leave them well alone. It's pretty rare for one to corrode through unless the antifreeze concentration has been neglected. If you can't see the back of them down the water passages then you have to make a decision.

I'd replace them as a matter of course, they're not exactly expensive and they are generally a bugger if not impossible to do in situ....they might look good from the front but they could be rusty as hell internally.

I would leave them alone unless you have reason to belive they are suspect.

If it ain't broke don't fix comes to mind.

The only ones I've ever had to replace have been in the cylinder heads of some of the Ford Zetec engines.

As said above, good anti freeze and cooling system maintenance should keep them healthy.

I'm inclined to agree. Having had one fail, just one, just once. Back of the block behind the flywheel cry

Ask the question
1) Change them now whilst the engine is out and stripped ?
2) 6 months time when its in the car ?

Its a no brainer for me
