Thinking of running a weber on my ford ka, because cars running webers sound so much better! And im sure it will give it a power increase im a correct? But what would i do will all the old ecu and electronics not quite sure how to fit it and by pass the ecu, would u leave the ecu and just work around it? Ive found the inlet to do it and a carb just want to know abit more about doing it first smile

It would never get through an MOT on emissions even if you got the jetting spot on and it will destroy the catalyst, so its a dead in the water project on a modern(ish) engine. If you want that carb type of noise just fit a big air filter with a short induction pipe.

If you want a decent power increase and a proper sound (not a K&N and rude boy exhaust) then go with ITB. Slightly overkill but get some head work and a proper cam (Kent cams do a great fast road cam) and you will liberate some serious horses.

ITB will allow you to have it mapped to within MOT standards, but you'll probably need aftermarket management.

It will however cost some money.

Get delving through the archives of Fast Ford magazine, in about 2006 (if think it was the august issue) they did a review of a headwork + cam combo in a 1.3 engine and it made 80 BHP, so there is scope to hit 100 if you can make it a bit wilder, rev higher and the ITBs will certainly help!

If you're interested, I have a set of Jenvey ITBs (45mm) for sale, PM me for details, I want rid of them so you can have them for a very competitive price!

Finally, best of luck with tuning the engine, I had one with about 85 bhp and loved it!

Individual throttle bodies. They are the fuel injection version of running twin carbs.

As for the head work it's a long time since I read the article to tell you what they did but the standard head is pretty nasty so sees good rewards just with a basic porting and polish job.

I'll have a look and see if I can dig out the article!

I would sell you my worked ka head too but it's in need of some TLC so you'd be better getting your existing head worked.
