Hi
I have a Silva Fury with a Ford Pinto engine fitted. The problem is there is always cooling water leaking into the oil. A new head gasked and pressure testing the head did not help. The block top surface is flat as well. Is there a known problem erea where water can leak into the oil system?
There is no oil in the water and the engine runs all right.
Any help would be appreciated.
Oli

A crack or pinhole in a bore is a possibility especially if the engine has been overbored to a large oversize.

Thanks for the info. It is in fact a pinhole in the bore of cyl. no.3.

The Puma strikes again.
He didn't tell you what you had for breakfast only because you didn't ask.

He finished the warmed up leftovers of yesterday night's supper which consisted of sauteed liver and brains, potatoes au-gratin and green beans, all washed down with a nice chianti. He would be uncomfortable if I revealed where the liver and brains came from.

Thanks Oli for emailing me the reason before you asked the question so I can appear prescient and psychic on here. It really helps my reputation as an engine guru and my cheque as promised is in the post. Looking forward to doing business with you again.

Sometimes you just want to make sure it is not a just a little bolt you forgott to put in, befor you dismantle the engine.
Alway happy for inputs like this, this is what a forum should be for. Tahnks again.

So had the engine indeed been bored to a large oversize as I surmised?

On the early Pinto blocks the commonly used 93mm bore to obtain a 2.1 engine can be a bit close for comfort. The 205 and later blocks are much thicker walled.
