Left my car somewhere very cold, smells of petrol!
Discussion
I've parked up my car in a free car park as I don't need to drive it much at the moment. The temperatures have been down as low as -30, and are currently at around -15. My car was under about 1.5 metres of snow but I've dug it out now. I put in cold temp antifreeze and wiper fluid before i parked it up; but noone told me about cold weather petrol!
When I dug my car out there was a pretty strong smell of petrol, and when i popped the bonnet to try and jump start it, everything looked very frozen (covered in frost!), so I thought I'd better leave it.
So...
1. What is likely to have happened? Does petrol freeze? What damage would/could this cause?
2. If I was able to start the car, would it be a bad idea to start it from such a low temperature (given that it hasn't been run for a while)?
Hoping for some PH wisdom here, thanks in advance!
