Volvo S60 2.0T rough idle
Discussion
I've had a rough idle from my S60 for a couple of weeks now. It can fluctuate between 600-900 rpm, it does it from cold sometimes and sometimes when it's at full operating temp. It's not all the time, but maybe half the time when I'm stopped, the engine is hunting up and down. I'd like to get it sorted but would just like a bit of a clue why this might be happening - I thought possibly a vacuum leak? any Phers had a similar issue?

Hi Phil,I have had similar problems to yours, with uneven tickover and hunting at idle, cured by cleaning the bypass idle valve and the electronic throttle control unit using carb cleaner, there is a wealth of info on the net,and a good few videos, showing you how to do.Its an easy Diy,with a few hand tools screw driver/socket set and spanners. There have been issues with the throttle unit and Volvo have extended there warranty period.
Cars with real problems with the throttle unit seem to throw up fault codes and revert to limp home mode, there are ► 7:51► 7:51
also postings about Volvo charging silly sums of money to clean or replace components.
Here is a video to start you off,if cleaning works fantastic,if not and you need further help,or advise please get in touch,Sean
