VW BORA JAMMING ON FULL THROTTLE!!!!
Discussion
Most frightening incident today driving down a dual carriageway, slowed down for a roundabout, I had dipped the clutch but the engine just started to rev flat out! no control whatsoever so I turned off the ignition and tried to re start but it would not start for about two minutes and when it did fire awful smell from the exhaust similar to the rotten egg smell that used to happen on the older catalytic cars in the 90's. starts and ticks over ok but I am very concerned for the return trip in the rush hour tonight! it is a W reg 1.6 petrol, anyone had this happen before?

Just below the heater controls, there will be a small panel. Pull it off and you will see the OBD plug, it's about an inch and a half long by half an inch high. You'll either need to buy/borrow a code reader with live data function or take the car to a garage and get them to do it for you.

That response means you need to take the car to a reputable mechanic.Steve
OBD Scan

Check obvious stuff like something trapping the accelerator pedal. Carpets not fitted correctly etc. If the pedal is fine then check the cable under the bonnet - follow along the length and look for anything suspicious - poor installation, kinks etc. Trace it down to the linkage and again check for anything suspicious like corrosion or poor installation that could be causing issues.
If you don't find something obvious and you are not 100% sure you have rectified it then get it to a mechanic before you kill yourself, or someone else.
