obd live data???
Discussion
Hi all
I managed to borrow a bluepoint microscan OBD code reader from a friend.
could somebody possible explain or more to the point tell me if the readings seem all good.
Although it said NO CODES FOUND i do have a little issue with misfireing at cruising speeds.
The live readings where taken at idle with a cold start and around 9 degrees outside temp if that matters.
the car is 2007 audi a4 1.9tdi pd.
well it wont let me add a pic so ill type it.
D:$ = e8
DTC_CNT = 0
MIL = OFF
LOAD_PCT(%) = 30.2
ECT(oC) = 37
MAP(kPa) = 99
VSS(Km/h) = 0
IAT(oC) = 11
MAF(g/s) = 14.52
TP(%) = ---
OBDSUP = EOBD
MIL_DIST(km) = 0
Im more interested in the MAF and MAP readings,if anyone can advise if these are quite normal
Thanks in advance
regards
Nigel

It's a diesel so unthrottled, hence at idle i would expect to see a MAP value of around atmospheric pressure of 1 bar (100kPa) you log shows 99kPa, so no issues there.
The MAF of 14 g/s seems reasonable too (a 1.9litre engine idling at 800rpm, with a vol eff of 85%, an inlet temp of 11degc (IAT on your log) would be pulling in 14g/s of air)
You need to try to get the "smooth running adaption" values from your ecu (the system looks at fluctuations in crankshaft velocity as each cylinder fires, and adjusts specific cylinder injected fuel mass quantities to achieve a smooth idle). If you have issues with injectors these values will be disparate between cylinders.

i dont think that info is availible on the system i got or i just dont know how access it.
i did play around with it a bit but all other settings just said NOT AVAILIBLE
at least the MAF and MAP seem ok in your opinion,i will try to find time to check for vacuum leaks but everything seems well hidden on this engine.

Check the small vacuum pipe at the actuator for the turbo. They have a habit of getting hard due to heat and splitting/cracking. Also check under the inlet plenum too. They are reknowned for letting air in that way which if intermittent could be causing your misfire. unlikely to be the injectors as they would generally trigger the EML.
hi adyady
yes this is a task ive yet got too and i think it may have been you who suggested this before,but what with the winter months and all that.i did at one point have a look.
you can just see the turbo from above,so i thought from below would be a doddle,but little did i know how much would be in the way from underneath.
While on the subject of weather i have noticed that it dosent seem to as bad with warmer conditions???any thoughts on this
