Hi Guys. Here's one for ya..

What's the best way to get the 0-60 down to under 5 seconds on my Maxda MX-5 1.6 with a £5,000 budget?

Turbo charger?
Super charger?
Whole new engine?
Whole new car?

May be worth adding that its a mk2 2002

Cheers
Mike

It's have the word "charger" in it, that's for sure.

There are kits for both about I believe, just finding one will be harder.

I wondered whether sticking a V8 in it that produces 350 break might be a good idea. I'm no mechanic though so I don't know whether that's even possible. Would be possibly the best sounding MX-5 around though smile

With a big enough wallet and a big enough hammer any engine will fit.

But in a car that's party piece is its handling, the last thing you want to do is chuck a large, heavy engine in.

Forced induction will see big rewards, or even look at nitrous.

If you aren't a mechanic- just buy a car which has the performance you want. It'll cost thousands to get what you want out of your current car. V8 will ruin the handling.
