Renault Clio warning lights
Discussion
I hit a puddle too fast in December which set off my stop light, abs and brake system warning light off, car has run fine ever since with no problems. Prior to this the airbag light and service light were already on. Recently serviced car and decided it was time to turn the lights off, so ran diagnostics on the car which said to replace the ECU. Checked several of the sensors and all seem fine.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and what can I try to fix it other than removing the bulbs??

It could be a totally different problem causing the lights to come on. I had an engine management light on and it was caused by the brake lights not having a good earth in the boot. Did you get the person with the diagnostic tool to try and reset the lights so they turned off?
What year and model, you might be better putting this in French Bread.

Very well known problem here.
Check all the electrical plugs and sockets are clean.
Check none of the wiring is chaffed (something about a steel box at the back of the engine rubbing the cables?)
Pull the ECU fuse and wait 30 mins then reconnect.
Has even been suggested to try rubbing the ECU with a clove of garlic

How long til they went out on there own? I though perhaps the ecu is still wet but surely not?
Ive read elsewhere that it is also linked to the leaky sunroof letting moisture in and affecting the electrics. Too true on the reno comment though haha!
I can't remember tbh, a month or so at least. I don't think my problem was dodgy ECU related more like a genuine electrical problem sending it of at a tangent. I also had a leaky sunroof but somehow that righted itself or we are having the wrong type of rain. I've read the leaky sunroof can affect the central locking sensor which is somewhere in that region. I think Renaults must have a tie up with Lucas somewhere along the line when it comes to the wiring.Ive read elsewhere that it is also linked to the leaky sunroof letting moisture in and affecting the electrics. Ill probably leave the garlic suggestion haha but ill have to give the ecu fuse a go. Wont be the metal box, removed that a long time ago, I swear renault only fitted them to cause more problems with the wiring! Check all the electrical plugs and sockets are clean.
