2006 Polo - Battery Issue

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on a problem with a friends Polo (2006 reg)
After a few days, the battery keeps going flat. Apparently they have run a multimeter across the alternator and that is working fine, and they measured the voltage draw across the battery which was apparently 0V.
My friend replaced the battery but the problem still occurs. Can anyone advise what the issue could potentially be? Are there any common Polo problems which could cause this?
I'm not sure if it is of any relevance, but there has been numerous problems with the remote key for the car. I wonder if the immobiliser is at fault?
My thought is that there is a very small battery drain somewhere. Also can a battery read a voltage draw of 0V given that the clock and alarm are still active? Whether they made a mistake in their measurement I don't know.
