the car has just started draining battery overnight. played with meter and with nothing on its drawing 0.07A pull bcm fuse under bonnet it drops to 0.02 or if i pull immobiliser fuse in cabin it also drops to 0.02 so it seems to be the immobiliser thats playing up and from what a gather they are known for it but cant find any good solid info out on fix's etc. im imagining its a new bcm unit at £700 fitted as of course its going to need the most expensive bit possible.
oh its 04 plate k12 1.2 sx

anyone have any ideas ?
cheers

Neither of those are enough current drain to flatten a battery overnight

But I have seen similar problems on other cars. For no apparent reason battery goes flat overnight. Certainly when testing there is minimal current drain, yet overnight it goes stone dead.
Never did hear of the cause or solution, as the owner just fitted a battery cut out to it instead as couldnt be bothered searching anymore.

This occurred with the original battery, fully charged, and also a brand new battery.
So something must have been playing up somehow during the night that caused it to go flat.

thats kind of what i thought but it seems it should only be drawing 0.02 from random googling
i dont fancy sitting watching a meter all night wink

it seem sthere is a known issue with it draining battery but local nissan dealer wasnt willing to help obviously they wanted to diagnose it at 70 per hour

The problem with testing these things is they tend to stay awake for some time after you've locked the car.

What sort of ammeter are you using? Inline or clamp type?

The best thing you can do really, is tape down the bonnet switch if it has one, lock the car, and take a few readings over a period of time, say an hour or two, and see if it rises.

As Stevie said, 0.07A shouldn't kill a battery overnight, so either you've got a dead battery (is it actually holding it's charge?) or something else is playing up.

not original battery that was swapped out in jan for a new varta one all was going well. when i took it into the garage on tuesday they said oh its the battery and swapped it out for a cheap one but its still happening. onfortunatly its only a cheap inline meter borrowed it from someone at work.

i may just get shot of it and get a shedier shed to use for a few weeks

I vaguely remember (I left Nissan 6 years ago) when the K12 first came out they did have problem with battery draining. I can't remember what the cause was but I think it was remedied with a software update to the ECU/BCM on a complaint basis.
It may be worth talking to your friendly Nissan Dealership.

Good luck

Hi I know this is an old post I have been having the same problem battery drain on our daughters Micra and its just had a new bosch battery replaced it is the K12 keyless entry model ,also the electronic power steering has just been reconditioned by ECU testing based in Derby. Has the car got to go to the main dealer for an ECU upgrade or can an auto electrician specialist sort it out thanks Dave

An alternator problem can cause the battery to drain but electrickery is really not my strong suit.

Last one I did it was the alternator, it was overcharging 16 volts when running and the vehicle had a 70 mili amp draw.
