So yet another post regarding ol' girls teething problems..

Firstly, the car is a 2002 hyundai coupe SE 2000CC manual. Secondly, the problem, when sitting at 60MPH in 5th, 30MPH in 4th etc, when holding the throttle position to maintin that speed there is a horrible knocking sound the comes from the offside area in the bonnet. What could it be? Is the clutch on the way out? Could it be something loose that needs a spanner to stop the vibrations.... where should I look, I only get the issue whilst driving, so sitting it on my drive with the bonnet up and trying to find the issue is useless. Is it just a case of poking around, playing about and testing it on the road until the problem vanishes?

Sounds like you could have early signs of a drive shaft bearing on it's way out. If it only makes the noise when you're maintaining a certain speed it will most likely be something rythmical like a wheel bearing or drive shaft. As the revolutionary speed gets to a certain speed the play could be making the driveshaft become unstable causing the noise. Worth checking play in the driveshaft and diff bearing on a jack. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the advice. I've had a driveshaft go on me before, not the most pleasant experience I've had.
